Ideas that make a difference

The Arena group emanates from a radical and progressive analysis of society. We try to look with an inquisitive eye at society’s current problems and the opportunities of the future. We are a non-profit organisation, independent of organisation and party politics.

We are united in our aim to influence public debate on problems of modern society and the forming of ideas. Our starting point is our values: democracy, equality, solidarity, impartiality and justice. We are an arena for broad public debate, where many different voices can be heard. We are not bound by any preconceived political programme that we want to impose on others. We want to examine the age that we live in and influence the future.

We have strong beliefs in the possibilities with democracy. Democracy is a framework, a way of making decisions about our mutual concerns. All constraining factors that prevent and oppress should be observed, criticised and opposed, whether it concerns class, gender or ethnicity. Hierarchical and authoritarian ideas and traditions are in opposition to our view of democracy. Democracy must in the future be reinforced on the local level but must also be established regionally and globally.

The Arena Group includes:

Arena: The magazine Arena is Sweden’s leading magazine on society and current affairs. Arena writes about politics, culture and ideas.

Dagens Arena: Dagens Arena (Daily Arena) publish editorals on our website five days a week, commenting on swedish and internantional politics.

Atlas: The publishing house Atlas is one of Sweden´s top publisher´s of non-fiction, focusinig on social issues, journalism and politics.

Arena Idé: The think tank Arena Idé stimulates debate on society with its focus on the future. Arena Idé publishes books, organises debates and seminars and initiates research and investigation projects.

Arena Program: Arena Program brings together speakers and lecturers for meetings, courses and conferences all round the country. Arena Program also co-ordinates the Arena Group’s own seminars and arranges seminars, lectures and courses on request.

Arena University: Arena University is an educational institution that offers recurring high-quality courses and education. We also offer tailor-made courses and study circles on current social concerns.

Publishing company Premiss: The Arena group produces books and publications on request through Premiss.

Study trips: Arena group organises study trips to different countries and on different themes.

Time signals: Time signals is a series of seminars on current affairs and strategic issues offered exclusively to our subscribers.
